NFL Rule Changes

Over the past weekend, NFL Referee Bill Leavy, along with a officiating crew, visited the Broncos to discuss and “teach” the newly installed rules establish by the NFL committee. The new rules have been developed/altered in what they believe will be the best way to ensure each and every player’s safety and also to ensure a level of fairness among the teams.

Some of the notable rule changes:
1.    ----Kickoffs are now moved to the 35-yard line & the kicking team may not line up more than five yards behind the 35-yard line.

2.    ----- All scoring plays will be reviews by the replay booth and coaches can no longer challenge any scoring plays.

3.   ------- Contact with a quarterback’s head is no longer penalized, unless it is a “forcible blow.” (Was not expecting this change at all)

4.  -------- Playing surface must be a league-approved shade of green.

5.   ------- Runners and tacklers will be penalized equally for grasping and twisting an opponent’s facemask.

6.   ---------  To complete a catch, the receiver must have a firm grip and control of the ball, two feet (or another part of the body- besides for his hands) on the ground and he must maintain control of the ball long enough to perform an act “common to the game.”
